Objectives:
The Learner will:

· Locate an document they want to write about
· Write a short synopsis about the article they read
Materials:

· Paper
· Pencils
· Hand out with URLs of the web sites to be used or have them bookmarked and ready to go

· MS Publisher software (optional, only used if you want the students to put together the newspaper)
Activities and Procedures:
1. Explain to students what primary source documents are. Ask them why they think primary source documents are important. Ask them what we might learn when we examine primary source documents.
2. Explain that they will be looking at primary source documents online. They will read all the documents and then choose one. They will then write a short newspaper article centered around the document they read. (They are going to use the information to create a fictitious story.)
3. Have students click on the student page for this lesson and begin.
4. When all the newspaper articles have been written, put them together for the students and call your newspaper something such as The Ancient Egyptian Daily News.
5. You may wish to use MS Publisher to create your newspaper. Have students type in their reports in their spare time.
Conclusion:
Tell students that their next project will be to create a brochure to entice people to move to ancient
