Lesson Plans

These lesson plans are lessons that are designed to be completed in a computer lab. The links will open into new windows. Each lesson plan will have a list of materials needed to complete the lesson. This list will include software used and web sites used.

Important Note: These lessons are to be used after Ancient Egypt has been introduced in the students.

Lesson 1

In this lesson students will discover their learning styles and then complete a project of their choice at the Die Like Egyptian Web site.

Lesson 2

This lesson has students conducting research on the Internet to find out information so they can rewrite a fairy tale of their choice that will reflect Egyptian culture. They will print out stationary and type their letters.

Lesson 3

Students will examine the role of a queen with that of traditional women in ancient Egyptian society. They will write a letter as if they were the queen and compare their life to that of the regular women.

Lesson 4

Students will explore primary source documents from ancient Egypt that are found on the web. They will then write a newspaper article based on one of the documents. They will need to “flesh” out their stories with some creativity. They will then put the newspaper stories together to form the Ancient Egyptian Daily News.

Lesson 5

Students work together to create a brochure enticing people to move to ancient Egypt. They will use MS Publisher to complete their task. They will learn how to save graphics from the internet and insert them into their document.

Lesson 6

This is a culminating activity. Students work in groups of 7 to create a news show about ancient Egypt.

They will research their information using the internet, create a concept map using either Inspiration software or with pen and paper. They will write their articles and video tape their show.

This is an online project that can be used as a reward. It is part educational and part fun!
