Aesop's Fables An online collection of over 655 fables! when was the last time you read your favorite fable?

Bartleby.Com Free access to a huge listing of reference books, verse, fiction, and nonfiction books. All books are out of copy right. It has lots of material to help kids with report writing skills and research projects. All books are in electronic format. This site is for everyone.

Classic Reader.com You can read, search and annotate classic literature.

Mighty Book This is now my total favorite! Unfortunately, this site is such a success that the owners are having to ask for donations to keep it running. Kids can come here and have stories read to them 24 hours a day! There are poetry contests, art contests and creative writing contests in which they can participate! They can watch videos about animals, famous people and more or just relax and learn some new songs!

Myths and Legends This site is filled with links and site reviews. You can find all sorts of myths and legends here

Online Classics This website has streaming videos or opera performances, theater, ballet, and classical music. This is an interesting site but is really geared at the high school level student.

Graphic Organizers

Teacher Vision has a huge list of graphic organizers that you can print out and use with your classes. They have KWL charts, Venn Diagrams, Check lists, Timelines, and more. There is also an extensive list of language arts graphic organizers.

General

Fun School K-8th This site has too many good activities to list here. You really need to check it out. It is divided into grade level activities. Reading skills, foreign language, information on inventors, ancient civilizations, holidays, States, professions, spelling, chronological ordering skills, all areas of science, many fun and varied math activities, parts of speech, sign language, and geography skills. This site does have it?s share of mind rotting games as well.

LightSpan Learning Activities This site has language arts and math games for 3-8th grades. To find more teacher and parent resources, explore this site's many levels. This site is an excellent resource for all.

The Whole World is My Neighbor
K-8th This is a collaborative projects that seeks to bring about a better understanding of the differences in children's lives around the world. This could be used when teaching communities or for a lesson in multiculturalism.

Government

Guide to US Government for Kids K-3 This is a cute site that has links to government kid?s pages, as well as information about the government and its symbols. It also has games and activities. A very well made site.

Explore DC. Org Grades 6-12 Take a tour of the history, heritage, and culture of Washington D.C. There are five main section: US Presidents, African American Heritage, Federal City, Local History, and Specialty tours. There is an interactive time line and additional resources for teachers including lesson plans.

Write Your Representative You can find and contact members of the House of Representatives.

Health and Safety

Code Red Rover Grades K - 5th This site teaches children home safety in a fun, interactive way. There is a teacher page that offers teaching suggestions.

Kids Health Grades K - 8 This site is really neat. It has lessons about the human body as well as feelings.

Youth Health Grades 1-4 This is a cute multimedia site that promotes good health practices. It has information on body parts and systems. It has cartoon charactors that appeal to kids. This is a cute site.

Literature

CyberGuides All grade levels. This site offers "web delivered units of instruction" to supplement the books read in class.

Math

Aplus Math Grades 1-6 In addition to Bingo style math games, there are flashcards and teacher worksheets to print!

AAAMath Grades K - 8th Arithmetic Topics include addition, comparing, decimals, equations, exponents, geometry, measurement, money, naming numbers, percent, practical math, ratios, subtraction, algebra, counting, division, estimation, fractions, graphs, mental math, multiplication, patterns, place value, properties and statistics.

Flashcards for Kids Give this URL to parents! Students can practice their math facts on line

Kid Klockz Share this URL with parents. Kids enter the time they wish to see on a clock. It is a good way to review time telling skills.

Mathematical Exerciser This is a cute little drill game for K-8th grades.

No Matter What Shape your Fraction is in! This is neat way for kids to explore fractions using geometric shapes. This site uses java.

Tangrams can be lots of fun! Students explore tangrams at this site by dragging the pieces in to a puzzle shape. There are a variety of puzzle shapes to choose from. This is a very fun activity.

Virtual Math Manipulatives I have complied a list of links to virtual Math manipulatives. These are really fun to work with! I made this for a class so it also has links about using them in the classroom. There are lesson plans and places to print out manipulatives if you need to make things such as individualized flashcards for your students.

Pictures for Reports

The Amazing Picture Machine You can find pictures of just about anything here. Students can download and print out pictures for their reports. This is a great resource!

Poetry

Poets Corner Poems, poets, timelines, activities, and links! Not a good site for primary grades.

Poetry for Everyone Lots of links to other sites with reviews makes this a great resource. There is something for everyone here.

Poetry 4 Kids This site explains how to write funny poetry. It also has quite a bit of funny poetry to read, my favorite poem is "My Personal Slave".

Printable Maps

Printable Maps National Geographic lets you print out maps of the world, continents, and the three North American countries. You may print them out in several formats including detailed and basic.

Science

Amazing Space This is a wonderful site for learning all about astronomy. It appeals to younger kids. Please put this on your list of sites to check out!

Atoms Family Grades K-12 Learn about energy, electricity, principals of atoms and matter and electrical safety.

Dan's Wild Weather Page This is a site authored by a meteorologist. All types of weather information can be found here. This site also has links to other great sources. This is an excellent site.

Find Out Why Grades K-6th This is a site created by the National Science Foundation, Disney, and Discovery Magazine. Kids can learn more about the world around them here. Earth shaking questions such as, "Why do we sneeze?" are answered.

I Know That Grades K-6th This site received an A+ rating from Education World. It offers varied fun learning activities for kids in many different subject areas.

Mysterious Journey: Rainforest Desert Grassland Grades 4-12 This is another thinkquest site. It is very well done. There are lots of photographs and text about these three biomes. There is an online glossary which is very easy to use also.

Water Science for Schools This site is maintained by the United States Geological Survey just for schools! It houses a lot of information about water and is very easy to navigate.

Typing

Easy Type This is a fun site where children as well as adults can practice their typing skills. It is a great website to put in a classroom newsletter!

Virtual Field Trips

If you are looking for a Virtual Field Trip for your students, you should check out this page first. This site lists 29 different trips on topics ranging from science and math to government.
