The Solar System

| Sun | Mercury | Venus | Earth | Mars | Jupiter | Saturn | Uranus | Neptune| Pluto|

The solar system is the Sun and everything that moves around it such as the planets, comets, and asteroids.  There are nine planets in our solar system.  They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.  The Sun is the biggest body in our solar system.

Our solar system is shaped like an egg.  The picture below shows some of the things that are in our solar system. The planets aren't really as close as they look in this picture.  This is just an artist's rendition.

You are going to write a report about one of the planet's in our solar system.  You need to print out a planet report sheet first.  You can do that by clicking here.  Once you have clicked the print icon, please just close the page by clicking on the X at the top right hand corner of the page.

If you would like to see a movie about the solar system you can click here and go visit the NASA StarChild website.  You will see the picture that is on this page.  Scroll down and you will see the link to click on to view the movie.

Click on a planet's name to learn about that planet.  Each planet will open up in a new window.  When you want to come back to this page, just click the link on the top right hand corner of the page.

After you have finished finding all the information about your planet, you can go to Windows of the Universe and color a picture of your planet online! Check out the other planets when you are done!
